The Meeting of International Comedy Minds

14 Dec

“So, Peppy, what the writer’s room is going for this week is a subtler thing where you use some psychological tricks to get the best of Herr Professor.”

“Peppy ist gut.  Ist das script crap!”

“Oh, we agree the words totally aren’t right yet.  A few of the jokes don’t pop.  We need to tweak the attitudes here and there.  And the point of view is definitely creaky.”

“Was stimmt mit der biergarten sketch?

“Oh, yeah the beer garden sketch last week was hilarious.  Balls to the wall funny.  Way off the grosselaughenspieler diesel-o-meter.  But we thought it would just get old and predictable to just do variations of it every week.  The story this week allows you to brilliantly use your wits to psychologically overcome your problems with Herr Professor. If you just allow us to strengthen the underlying motivations we think we can make this show sing.”

“Ja, Ja sing der bier polka und make der funny steps.”

“Well, we can’t get the rights to that particular song. And  Herr Professor has a song when he enters so we don’t want to duplicate that.”

Herr Professor is crap. Der volken don’t put down beer for ein schwein poofter.  Der volken lieb Peppy, Ja?”

“Ja. You are definitely the guy they love. …So000, more jokes for Peppy?  A polka song for Peppy? And another –Peppy falling down drunk – biergarten sketch?”

“Ja, ja, ja. Du ist gut Uberscriptenmeister.”

“Danke schoen, Peppy.”
