Team Steinkellner Bids a Fond Farewell to Field Trips, Forever

4 Jun

Emma graduates this Thursday. I suddenly realized we have gone on our last field trip. This story is a series of comments on the 5th grade trip to Washington D.C.

All the other parents need their coffee.

Most of the other parents like wine.

Never get stuck splitting the check with 5th grade moms. That way lies madness.

It would be impossible to make this trip without video games and coffee.

Lunch is more important than history.

Being on schedule is more important than appreciating your national heritage.

Monuments beat museums just like paper beats rock.

Big puffy clouds are nice but not if you are going past them on a bus for three hours.

Don’t stand up on the bus or you will get yelled at.

The bus driver would rather harangue you for half an hour than spend five minutes cleaning up the vehicle.

Being in a group for a week does not make you want to spend more time with those people. Ever.

Food vouchers are much less fun than they sound.

Anyone who wants their address please write me personally. They have a lot of spare bedrooms.
